Stanton Hall Nursing Home has created a well dressing. It is believed to be the first to appear in the village of Stanton by Dale.
This picture by Thomas Leleux show residents with the crown-shaped creation made from coloured flower petals, in place by the water pump on the main road, with members of the nursing home gathered around it. The pump dates from 1909 and stands on the site of a 70ft shaft.
The well dressing, following a Derbyshire tradition, was created to join in with the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. It went on display for the first time today (Friday).
