Armistice Day with 108-year-old Donald Rose who is a resident at Canal Vue Care Home, Ilkeston.
Former ‘Desert Rat’ Donald saw action in Europe and North Africa in World War Two. He was born on Christmas eve in 1914 and is the seventh-oldest surviving veteran.
He served with the 7th Armoured Division after joining the Queen’s Royal Regiment, aged 25.
His visitors included Erewash mayor councillor Frank Phillips and deputy mayor councillor Kate Fennelly, who is the council’s Armed Forces Champion.
