Donald (106) of Canal Vue care home gets his wish to ride in a fire engine and is featured on TV.

Well today one of 106 year old, war veteran Donald Rose’s dreams came true, to ride in a fire engine! What an amazing day for him and activity co-ordinator at Canal Vue Care Home Naomijane Allsop. What a wonderful team effort from everyone involved in making his dream come true today. Donald was firstly interviewed by Rajiv Popat from ITV. He then got to ride in the fire engine from Headquarters in Ripley, meeting the fire chief of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and having a tour around, then had a ride returning to Canal Vue in the fire engine and then back to Ripley again. Fireman Dean initially took Donald to the engine in Ripley and after his exciting trip returned him home safely to his care home. What a wonderful, thoroughly deserved experience for Donald. The full story will be on Tanya Prime’s Show on Erewash Sound next Tuesday between 1-4pm. Tanya was also part of making Donald’s dream come true. What an amazing community we have here in Erewash and I feel so proud to be part of it. You’re a hero Donald! ❤
