Football fans thanked

Ilkeston Town football fans have been thanked for contributing to a food bank on Merseyside.
Those aboard the supporters bus travelling to Marine on Saturday 2nd December donated around 40 tins of soup, beans, tomatoes, etc., after hearing that their opponents were collecting items for needy people in their area.
Our reporter Matchman said: “After seeing on social media that Marine were having a collection point at the ground, we thought it would be nice to add a few items ourselves.
“Although it was a last minute appeal, several good-hearted fans responded by bringing donations on to the bus.
“They were all bagged up and when we got to the ground we handed them over at the collection point.”
Marine officials were touched by the gesture and acknowledged the kindness of the Ilkeston supporters at the ground and later on social media.
The game ended in a draw.
