Last night (Sat. 29th October) we closed the doors of our family run chip shop Johnny’s Fish Bar Nottingham Road Ilkeston for the very last time. What a weekend it’s been, I have never seen queues like it I didn’t dare look up so no idea what it looked like from outside.
From the bottom of our hearts we are truly thankful for everyone who has supported us over the years, and for those who queued for ages, travelled back from where they had moved to for one last kebab. For all the cards, flowers, chocolates and kind words we are honestly so humbled and thankful to you all.
Mum and dad (John and Flora ) have worked sooo hard, it’s now time to enjoy their retirement, deciding on a set date to close has been a really difficult decision for them often changing their minds, it’s been their life for so long. Closing was unthinkable at times.
Dad closing that door last night for the last time was much more emotional than I thought it would be, as I realized the shop and all our amazing customers were just as much part of mine, my family and my brothers lives as it had been my parents.
