Fantastic gymnastics festivals were enjoyed by hundreds of schoolchildren across Erewash.

Two events for Year Three and Four and Key Stage One pupils ran at Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club in Long Eaton in partnership with Erewash School Sport Partnership.

Pupils were encouraged to use equipment such as the air track, vault, bars and hand apparatus to introduce them to the basics of gymnastics.

Coaches from the gymnastics club helped to run the events and schools involved included Grange, Sawley, St Laurence, Shardlow, Dovedale, Brooklands and Ashbrook Junior.

Megan Bramley, head coach at Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club, said she hoped that some of the pupils might leave feeling inspired to think about trying gymnastics again.

She said: “We want to make gymnastics accessible for everyone and to make sure that all of the children have the chance to have a go and see what gymnastics is all about. There are lots of different young leaders from EVGC who are here to help and we hope that some of the pupils might think about coming back to see us again.”

Vicky Brierley, from Erewash School Sport Partnership, thanked everyone involved in the festivals.

She said: “We would like to say a massive thankyou to the expert coaches from Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club who were on hand to encourage the pupils and provide the support that was needed.

“For a lot of the children it may have been the first time they would have tried some of the equipment but they were so enthusiastic and the feedback we had was great.

“Hopefully this will encourage them to consider trying gymnastics again and maybe coming to one of the classes at the club.”
