A much-loved local woman sadly passed away at home on Saturday 1st May.
Pam Slater (nee Hooley) who had Parkinson’s disease, was 69 years old and had contracted Covid.
She died the same day with paramedics at the scene. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed as a post mortem is to be carried out.
Pam was born in Ilkeston to Iris Hooley. Like her mother, she brought up her own family in Ilkeston. She had two children and four grandchildren.
Pam worked at Rutland Garments and then at Argos for over 20 years.
She used to be an active runner – she completed the London Marathon when she was 40 years old. She belonged to Ilkeston Running Club, but sadly had to give up the sport when she received the Parkinson’s diagnosis.
Daughter Sarah Lobb said her family meant the world to her, and she was loved by her many friends in the community.
“We are utterly heartbroken. It was such a shock. She loved Ilkeston and her many friends in the town. They will all be so saddened to hear of her passing.
“We don’t have funeral details yet as we have to wait for the post mortem.
“The picture was taken a few days before Mum became unwell.”
