Ilkeston’s Victoria Park Leisure Centre hosts another Royal Life Saving Society course this summer for anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard.

The UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is a minimum 36 hour course and content includes topics covering the role of lifeguards, swimming pool supervision and rescue and emergency action plans – while cardiopulmonary resuscitation, AED (automated external defibrillator) and first aid is also part of the training.

The next six-day course is Monday 3rd to Saturday 8th August between 8am and 5.30pm each day and costs £220.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Councillor’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“This qualification is the most awarded in the UK and is an important one for anyone over the age of 16 who wants to be a qualified lifeguard as well as providing the first step for a career in the leisure industry.”
