Erewash Borough Council has now opened applications for the Omicron Hospitality and
Leisure Grant with a deadline for submissions at midday on 21 February.
Businesses must submit all applications online through the council’s grant approval system
and payments to eligible businesses will be made by 31 March at the latest.
Full details of the scheme, the qualifying criteria and how to apply are on the website www.
erewash.gov.uk/OmicronGrants
The government announced the latest grants just before Christmas and local authorities
have been awaiting further guidance on how they will be managed and details of the quali-
fying criteria for businesses.
The grants cover the period from 30 December 2021 and eligible businesses can apply for
one-off grants, with payments dependent on the rateable value of premises.
Councillor Wayne Major, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member
for Resources, says:
“We are well aware how much the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sector – both
nationally and locally - suffered over the Christmas and New Year period due to cancelled
bookings and uncertainty caused by the Omicron variant.
“We are expecting a high demand for this grant and we would ask businesses to please
be patient. Progress updates can be seen via the online grant approval system. Please be
assured we have made excellent progress and everything is in place so we can get payments
out as quickly as possible.”
Businesses are urged to register for a My Erewash account at the council’s website www.
