\nErewash is \u2018BIG WINNER\u2019 in Chancellor\u2019s Spring Budget!<\/p>\n
Erewash is set to receive a huge cash boost following the Chancellor\u2019s announcement of \u00a35 million of Government funding to support local cultural projects across the Borough in his Spring Budget.<\/p>\n
The new funding, which was secured by Erewash MP Maggie Throup, recognises the crucial role culture can play in levelling up and will support projects that reinforce pride in our communities.<\/p>\n
In what was the last Spring Budget before the next General Election, other measures to cheer include:<\/p>\n
\uf0a7 A further 2 per cent reduction in National Insurance Contributions, which combined with tax cuts previously announced in the Autumn, will save the average worker over \u00a3900.00 per year
\n\uf0a7 An extension to the current freeze on alcohol and fuel duty
\n\uf0a7 An 8.5 percent increase in the State Pension
\n\uf0a7 \u00a36 billion of new investment in our NHS
\n\uf0a7 Reform of the Child Benefit system to make it fairer<\/p>\n
Speaking about the announcement, Maggie said:<\/p>\n
\u201cErewash is already incredibly lucky to play host to a number of high-quality cultural events each year, including the Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show, The Long Eaton Carnival and the Charter and Chestnut Fairs.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, cultural hubs such as the Duchess Theatre and The Erewash Museum, and local landmarks like iconic Bennerley Viaduct, are responsible for bringing thousands of visitors into our towns and villages and providing a welcome boost to the local economy.<\/p>\n
