A celebration of heritage, food and music called Summer on the Settlement will take place in Ockbrook this weekend.
Hosted by the Moravian congregation, the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Greg Maskalick will join attendees at the summer event on Ockbrook Moravian Settlement which starts at 10am on Saturday 8 August.
German guests, ‘Moravian Brass’, will entertain churchgoers with popular, classical and sacred music from 4.30pm.
The Moravian church has a long tradition of brass band music, dating back over 300 years. The event will be a rare opportunity to witness this great custom in a British church.
As well as music there will be exhibitions, and costumed guides will tell the story of the church and the picturesque 18th century settlement known as one of Derbyshire’s ‘best kept secrets.’
Admission is free and refreshments will be available for visitors, with a chance to sample traditional Moravian baked goods.
