We’re delighted to welcome back Sandy the Bear for our Teddy Bear Picnics! Come along with a picnic to enjoy at the beach with garden games and nature crafts every Wednesday from 29 July to 26 August. Children are encouraged to bring their favourite soft toys along to share their snacks with.
Love trying new things? From creative arts to sporty challenges, Try It Thursday is all about learning, having fun and giving things a go!
With a broad set of activities from trying on a bee keeping suit and seeing an observation hive to using clay to make a pottery animal, plus cricket, archery and drumming – there’s something new for everyone on Thursdays from 30 July to 27 August.
Looking for live entertainment? We’re bringing good vibes to the garden every Friday from 31 July to 28 August.
You’ll find an interactive comedy magic show with live music, a four-piece String Quartet playing Disney and pop tunes, Super Sparkle’s “Little red riding rocks” theatre show and live band ‘Pigeon Pie’ bringing fun, family friendly music.
We’ll also be sharing the dance moves for a Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) – a traditional Scottish and Irish gathering!
You don’t need to book your place for any of these events, just come along and enjoy your time at Erewash Museum.

It’s a wonderful hub for community with entertainment for all ages, and I look forward to seeing the museum and its gardens filled with people enjoying summer together again.”
Erewash Museum is located near Ilkeston Market Place and welcomes 20,000 people a year. For the school holidays, it is open from 11am to 4pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – and is free to visit. Refreshments are available at Dalby House Café and the new beach hut in the museum’s gardens.
