Erewash Borough Council is undertaking a Community Governance Review – a consultation that asks people for their views on topics like parishes, boundaries and electoral arrangements.
This review will explore the creation of parish councils for Long Eaton, Ilkeston and Kirk Hallam.
It will also look at existing arrangements in Dale Abbey, Stanton-by-Dale and Sandiacre.
Many areas in Erewash already have parish councils. This review, agreed by councillors in June 2026, ensures Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Kirk Hallam have the same opportunity.

This is the first of two consultations for this process. A second consultation on draft recommendations will take place later in 2026. Final proposals will then be considered by Erewash Borough Council by Spring 2027.
