Step into a world of cogs, corsets and curiosity as Erewash Museum’s Steampunk event returns on Saturday 6 June, 11am – 4pm.
This event is themed around ‘Steampunk’, a subgenre of science fiction inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Visitors can expect a fantastic day out filled with creativity, where they are encouraged to dress up and embrace steam-powered style.
Come along to discover:
· Live performances
· A spectacular magic show
· Tea duelling – an unusual contest where two ‘dunkers’ attempt to eat a biscuit which has been dunked in hot tea the most cleanly.
· Market stalls
· And more steampunk surprises throughout the day
The fascinating market stalls will be packed with trinkets, whimsy, fashion and steampunk accessories. Perfect for collectors and newcomers.
Delivered in partnership with The Friends of Erewash Museum, it promises to be a memorable day out for families, steampunk fans and the creatively curious.
Lead Member for Community Engagement, Councillor Becca Everett said: “We want to thank both the Steampunkers and the Friends of Erewash Museum for bringing this vibrant event back again this year. Whether you’ve come along to the event before or this is your first time, we hope you enjoy celebrating Steampunk culture at the museum!”
Tickets are available on the door for just £5 per adult. Under 16s go free!
The Dalby House Café will be open all day, serving drinks and a selection of tasty treats.
Erewash Museum welcomes 20,000 people a year. It is normally open from 11am to 4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – and is free to visit. During school holidays it also opens on Wednesdays.
