Post Office is proposing to relocate Smalley Post Office to Premier, 34 Main Road, Smalley, DE7 6EE.
The current postmaster at 35 Main Road, Smalley, Ilkeston, DE7 6EF, has resigned. A new operator has been appointed, who has identified an alternative location to operate Smalley Appleby Post Office at the existing, Premier store, to maintain Post Office services in the local community.
Customers would access Post Office services in a modern, open-plan environment alongside the operator’s retail. There would be an open plan serving position.
There would be significantly longer opening hours of Monday to Sunday: 8am – 9pm.
This will provide 91 hours of service a week, compared with the current 20 hours per week. The extra 71 hours of service per week includes weekends, earlier opening and much later closing. This will make it more convenient for customers to visit.
