The town icon is thrilled to bits to find himself featured on an advertising poster near ‘Gnome Island’.
The traffic roundabout at the entrance to Morrisons supermarket got its name when garden gnomes started appearing on it over a decade ago.
One in particular – Ilson Gnome – has become a local celebrity with his own social media pages and is a fighter for a better Ilkeston.
Aquarius Home Improvements Ltd is the company responsible for making Ilson Gnome’s dream come true with the poster on Nottingham Road. It can’t be missed by bus passengers going up the hill. They’re greeted with the words: “Welcome to Ilson” and “Next stop Gnome Island”.
