Two free events to celebrate National Fitness Day and World Mental Health Day take place in Derby in September and October. Thanks to the St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) and Pure Gym, outdoor activities including rowing, skiing, basketball, and free gym classes will run on Wednesday, September 24 at The Spot in Derby. As part of National Fitness Day, shoppers will also be invited to take part in an array of fitness activities, and free health checks from 10.30am to 4pm. Participants can also collect a goodie bag, filled with healthy snacks. This event has been organised to highlight the connection between physical and mental health. On World Mental Health Day, which runs on Friday, October 10, staff from Pure Gym will set up more fitness challenges at St Peters Cross, near St Peter’s Church on St Peter’s Street in Derby.

Gemma Pindard, Deputy BID Manager for St Peters Quarter and Cathedral Quarter BIDs, has organised these two activities for shoppers in the city. She said: “It is always exciting to bring the community together and celebrate something like

National Fitness Day and World Mental Health Day. These events are a great way for people to try a few fitness challenges, have a bit of friendly competition, and we have some fantastic goodie bags to give away.”
