On Wednesday 4th June, the newly appointed Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Harry Atkinson, joined Ilkeston Joggers to mark National Volunteer Week.
More than 40 runners took advantage of the sunny June evening, heading out on the scenic trails around the great trail routes in Ilkeston and the surrounding areas. Participants chose from 3-mile and 4-mile routes, while others enjoyed a more relaxed 3KM walk. After everyone returned safely, the group gathered for some well-deserved socialising, cake, and nibbles!
As part of its support for local community initiatives, Erewash Borough Council recently funded the training of two new volunteer run leaders for Ilkeston Joggers. Councillor Atkinson praised the group for promoting active lifestyles and making the most of Erewash’s beautiful surroundings. He also expressed his full support for their ongoing efforts.
Ilkeston Joggers is part of Jog Derbyshire, a welcoming network of social jogging groups across the county. The group meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Tesco car park in Ilkeston.
