What a momentous occasion for Ilkeston Rugby Club as the Ilkeston Impalas, the club’s pioneering girls’ rugby section, recently held their first ever presentation night! This fantastic event marked a significant milestone in the clubs history and was a true celebration of their dedication, passion, and incredible achievements throughout the season.
The Impalas, who have already made waves by playing their first ever home matches and competing in the NLD Festivals, gathered with coaches, family, and supporters to reflect on a season of growth and success. It was a night to acknowledge the hard work put in by every single player, from those who were brand new to the sport to those who have quickly become fierce competitors.
The spirit of the event undoubtedly centered on celebrating the collective journey. The Impalas have shown remarkable progress, demonstrating true teamwork, determination, and a relentless “wolf pack” mentality on the pitch. Their performance at the NLD Festivals, where both the under 12 and Under 14 girls secured an impressive third place finish, is a testament to their rapid development and commitment.
This presentation night wasn’t just about trophies, it was about fostering a sense of community, inspiring future generations of female rugby players, and recognising the pivotal role the Ilkeston Impalas are playing in expanding the reach of girls rugby within the local area.
