Ilkeston charity Ben’s Den has been recognised for its work of enhancing and improving the quality of life for others in the local community.

Representatives of the fund-raising group were presented with a King’s Award for Voluntary Service at a ceremony at Pride Park, Derby last month.

The award, originally created by Queen Elizabeth II and known as the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, was to “shine a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from all across the UK.”

Ben’s Den has become a favourite charity for many in this area.

It provides free caravan holidays on the East Coast for families with a young person battling cancer.

Members of the Ben Parker Trust Fund are also invited to Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this summer.
