Birthday Cake

A Long Eaton Sea Cadet has bowed out after an amazing 8 year career that started aged 10.

The final curtain has now come down on what has been an amazing 8 year Sea Cadet career for POC Thomas of Long Eaton Sea Cadets. The whole ship’s company and shipmates past gave a resounding 3 cheers as Thomas was presented with a reminder of his achievements and a birthday cake and card to celebrate his 18th Birthday.

In the past 8 years, this youngster has grown in confidence and taken every development opportunity the Sea Cadets have given to him, and more besides.

Highlights of the past 8 years, and there are many, have been attending the Sea Cadet Bronze Wings Flying Scholarship at HMS RALEIGH, Offshore adventure in TS Royalist and the yachts and learning to sail, kayak and much more.

On what was an emotional evening on Monday night, POC Thomas gave one piece of sage advice to the next generation of young cadets: “work hard and take every opportunity that comes your way!”

Although the final curtain has now closed on what has been a fantastic cadet career, POC Thomas has taken the decision to return as adult staff to help develop the next generation of young people. On completing college, his future aspirations are to become an Aircraft Controller in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm.

Bravo Zulu (Well Done) POC Thomas and good luck with next chapter of your life.
