Actor Robert Lindsay has made a return to his home town to see an exhibition at Erewash Museum.
The display ‘Artist and Teacher: An exhibition of John Lally’s work’ is on until April 26th.

Robert took his advice and went on to be became a star of stage and screen. His tv sitcom roles include Citizen Smith and Ben Harpur in My Family.
Remembering Mr Lally, Robert said: “He was a truly extraordinary teacher. I owe everything to him.”
Many of Mr Lally’s paintings are on show at the museum, where there is a gallery named after him. Also of interest are objects relating to his time at the school.
Robert Lindsay said: “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
