Intergenerational Interaction at Oliver House

A great morning with intergenerational interaction at Oliver House with our Yr 8 students’ guests from St. John Houghton.

The children headed by the school Chaplain Rachel Rose were involved with interesting conversation with our residents, telling stories whilst reminiscing on past events and their involvement.

As the morning progressed, they joined residents with gentle Zumba, ball games and shared laughs when challenged for a game of Dominoes.

The children were amazed that our visually impaired residents were able to participate with cheerful humour by the residents call out saying “Domino Woo Hoo” whenever they had a turn to win.

A real positive involvement between the visiting students and the residents, a fun time was had by all.

Endorsing that social connection between generations benefits all whilst encouraging community engagement.
