Ilkeston Theatre Company players are putting on ‘Sleeping Beauty’ panto at St John Houghton school, Kirk Hallam.
Once upon a time there was a King and Queen who ruled over the tiny Kingdom of Ballysilly. Basil (Steve Walton) and Beryl (Angie Jacks) were their names, and they were loved by all their people. Even the press liked them, because they were good and kind. Their dearest wish was to have a child and one day they were blessed with a lovely daughter, who they named Aurora (Lucy Tanner). There was great rejoicing throughout the Kingdom and the bells rang out in celebration. As the Kingdom was so small the King and Queen were on first name terms with almost everyone, everybody was invited to the palace for a magnificent banquet and to see the new baby. Because the King and Queen were pretty well-off and the new baby had loads of toys and just about every material thing she could have possibly wanted the invitations simply said: No Presents, just bring yourself. So that is what they did – all, that is, except the fairies. What could possibly go wrong?
