Mayor Visits Boxing Club

Erewash’s mayor donned gloves and took to the ring as she visited a boxing club that won funding from the borough council.

Cllr Kate Fennelly was only given a quick lesson in how to hold her fists so emerged unscathed. She saw how volunteer trainers at Ilkeston Community Boxing and Sports Club have used a £1,500 Fast Funding Community Grant get more people taking up the sport – especially youngsters.

The Community Grants aim to boost local volunteer organisations – with money coming from the government. Applying for funding is easy via the council’s website.
