Dropping in this weekend

It’s showtime again in Ilkeston this Sunday. The annual Ilkeston Heritage and Classic Car Show returns to the town centre – but with a difference. There will be two very special ‘guests’:

A 1940s Spitfire aeroplane, not flying overhead this time but parked on the market place!

Also ‘Sid’ – a replica of a car that set a 1920s land speed record. It will be in town to help raise money for the local Ben’s Den charity.

The show is being put on again by Erewash Partnership.

Visitors will be able to see an array of bygone vehicles including buses, cars, motorbikes, trucks, local delivery vans and steam engines.

An Arts & Crafts Fair, interest stalls, food stalls, brass band and walk-about characters will also be there to make this a big day out for all ages, 10am till 4pm.

EBC’s Deputy Leader Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:

“The car show continues to go from strength to strength – and is a fantastic day out for all the family. It is second only to Ilkeston’s famous charter fair in attracting crowds. The Spitfire will be a huge draw, especially with 2024 seeing the 80th anniversary of D-Day.”
