Coordinator Nick Morley is inviting girls interested in playing the sport to ‘come and see’.

“There’s just a few weeks to go until our girls rugby try-out event, and the excitement is building,” says Nick. “We’re thrilled with how much interest and support our brand new girls section has generated and we can’t wait to see more come along.

“Join us Wednesday 3rd July 6:30pm at Ilkeston Rugby Club. Come along and have your say in shaping the future of our Girls section.”

Primarily the club is looking for girls who will be going into school years 5,6,7,8 & 9 this coming September.

But they are happy for girls outside this range to come along to the sessions and see what it’s all about.

The emphasis is on inclusion and having fun.

Nick says: “As this is our first year, we are trying to get an under 12s and hopefully an under 14s girl side ready for the coming season in September, but if we get enough interest from girls who wish to play at Under 16s, then we are more than happy to support this too.

“It’s an exciting time to get involved with women’s and girls rugby, especially with the Women’s Rugby World Cup being held in England next year.”
