It’s early days of course but Ilkeston top the Northern Premier League table after winning all three of their opening games. FC United are 15th after winning one and losing two. But with their big support they’ll being hoping to be the first team to beat Ilkeston.
We arrived later than we’d hoped due to the M1 being closed but looking forward now to a good game.
Peep! We’re underway at the very impressive Broadhurst Park.
FCU are wearing their red and white. Ilkeston are in all blue.
Both teams are keen to go forward at speed. Declan Eratt-Thompson has had a chance for Ilkeston but saw his shot go wide.
Matt Yates gets an early save collecting a cross.
FCU are enjoying a spell on top. They had the ball in Ilkeston’s net but offside was given.
FCU’s fans are getting behind their team. Yates has to punch clear.
Then Nathan Tyson hits a great shot for Ilkeston, only for Boyes to pull off a super save.
FCU’s Ennis isn’t far off with a rising shot.
Into the final ten minutes of the first half and there are some strong challenges from both sides.
Yates is the busier keeper as FCU continue to have the edge. They’ve had some near misses.
GOAL for FCU. That’s tough on Ilkeston – right on 45 mins. Bollado the scorer on a break.
Half time: FCU 1 Ilkeston 0.
Second half begins.
Serious start by Ilkeston. Jamie Walker fires a free kick goalwards but Boyes manages to reach it even though it’s heading for the top corner. The free kick came about following a good move which ended with Hallam being pulled down just outside the box.
Ethan Hill replaces Tyson ten minutes in.
Tolley ‘scores’ but it’s ruled out.
Chance for FCU on the break, Cox clears.
Both teams are creating chances.
Tucker comes on for Tolley and gets involved with a good move straight away. But his cross finds no one.
Cox header is well saved by Boyes.
Ilkeston are giving it a go but no luck so far.
Walker makes a chance for Hallam but once again Boyes saves.
Wilder is floored in the penalty area – nothing is given.
