Ilkeston Studio Players are inviting us to join them on a journey into space.
They will be performing Return to the Forbidden Planet by Bob Carlton at the Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th September.
Return to the Forbidden Planet is a jukebox musical based on the 1956 science fiction film Forbidden Planet, which in turn is loosely based on Shakespeare’s play The Tempest.
A spaceship, helmed by Captain Tempest, has to make an emergency landing on the uncharted planet D’Illyria. The only residents there are the mad scientist Doctor Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and their robot Ariel.
A spokesperson for The Studio Players says: “We’ve been working super hard to create something that’s going to transport you out of this world, and we can’t wait to perform it for you!”
With a mix of Shakespeare, sci-fi and familiar rock and roll songs, this performance is set to appeal to a wide audience.
