Residents, relatives and staff of Oliver House Nursing Home in Kirk Hallam enjoyed watching the crowning of King Charles and Queen Camilla on TV. They also enjoyed celebration food, socialising and reflecting on the event.
“Some of the residents could remember the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in June of 1953,” said wellbeing and activities coordinator Carol Lawson.
“They were all fascinated by the parading armed forces, the military bands, the gold coach and the service in Westminster Abbey with all its ornamental paraphernalia and historical symbols.”
Those who wanted to wore union jack hats and waved flags.
Party food and drinks were enjoyed by all in the main function room.
