Grants for street parties

Erewash residents planning a right royal celebration for the Coronation of King Charles III in May have the chance to apply for funding to help organise a traditional street party.
Erewash Borough Council has confirmed that it has made grants from £50, up to £100, available for street parties in the borough. Residents are urged to apply for a grant early to ensure they are not disappointed, as the scheme will be operating on a first come, first served basis, with grants paid from the first week in April.
Individuals and groups have until 5pm on April 21 – subject to funding remaining available – to bid for money towards their royal celebration. Anyone who requires a road closure for their event should email [email protected] or call 0115 9071154. To guarantee applications being processed, they must be submitted by 5pm on March 24. Every attempt will be made to process applications received after this deadline but we cannot guarantee that orders will be issued. Any road closures needed will be free of charge.
King Charles III’s coronation will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London. During the ceremony, the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort.
The grant application form and full details of how to apply are available at Please note that grant funding cannot be used for the purchase of alcohol.
Councillor Paul Maginnis, Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing, says:
“We are delighted to once again be providing street party grants so that communities across Erewash can celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in style. Street parties bring people together and I would urge party planners to put in their bids for funding as soon as possible.”
