New Gallows Inn lock
A very interesting afternoon visiting the Gallows Inn, Ilkeston to see the installation of the new lock gates by the Canal & River Trust. It was lovely talking to the different trust workers and volunteers and sharing stories. It made it more poignant as my late grandad was the maintenance bricklayer and lock keeper of the Sandiacre Lock in the 1940s and who also lived there in one of the cottages along with my grandma and late dad ❤️ #Community Ilkeston & District Local History Society
