Had a fantastic evening at the opening of ILKON- Ilkeston Contemporary Arts tonight, it’s housed in the old Ebeneezer Methodist Church on Heanor Road giving this iconic building a new lease of life, and providing a multi use community space, that can be used by schools and community groups for performances or experiencing the arts, both contemporary and traditional.

The opening exhibition of photography and stories of Ukrainian Refugees by Ukrainian photographer Alona Melnyk and curated by Anastasia, is really powerful, what did hit home was the house keys of the portrait sitters, of houses they have had to flee.

ILKON will be open to the public on Wednesdays – Fridays and you can book via their website www.ilkonarts.com

This is a great addition to our community and I wish Chris and the team all the best moving forward.
