New record time at Ilkeston Hill Climb

Plenty of spectators turned out to watch Ilkeston Cycle Club’s annual Bath Street Hill Climb race.
Competitors started from the bottom of Bath Street and did their best to get all the way to the finish on the market place in the fastest time.
The overall winner was Josh Giddings (green jersey), a Team GB Academy rider who posted an amazing time of just 58 seconds, taking the title by one second from Brother Cycling’s Adam Kenway (blue jersey), the only two riders in the history of the race to go under a minute.
There was an opportunity for junior members to take part in the event.
Some cafes opened, serving spectators and organisers.
Dave Doohan of Ilkeston Cycling Club thanked Erewash Borough Council for allowing the club to close the road for the morning for an event which attracted around 100 entries. It took place on Boxing Day.
