Scouts create Nativity Garden
Members of the 2nd Ilkeston Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and their leaders have been decorating the United Reformed Church garden for Christmas.
“We wanted to make a large nativity scene and put up a Christmas Tree,” Tracy Richardson, Group Scout Leader, told us.
“The nativity figures stand at around 3’6″ tall and are made with chicken wire, carpet tubes and papiere mache. All the children and parents helped with the tree, lights and nativity either with donations or crafting.
“Scouting is about having fun, making friends and trying new things, and our Christmas Garden certainly ticked those boxes.
“The United Reformed (Green Spire) Church in Ilkeston has been home to the 2nd Ilkeston Scouts since the 1960s. Supporting our home is done willingly and most importantly the children have fun whilst doing so.”
“The annual Christingle Service is returning to the church at 3pm on Christmas Eve. Christingle is a celebration that brings families and communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. The church is currently experience heating issues, so come, wrap up warm and enjoy the short service.”
