Toilets vandalised
At a time when traders hope to see more customers, shoppers may be deterred by the closure of public toilets.
Louts have forced the closure of the public conveniences on Station Road, Ilkeston.
Erewash Borough Council said it was forced into the decision by anti-social behaviour and drug use.
Councillor Garry Hickton, lead member for environment, said: “The damage and mess left behind by a minority of irresponsible people has to be cleaned up at a cost to the council and local taxpayers.”
The only available public toilets in the town centre now are the ones on Lower Market Place.
