Parents invited to meet new headteacher

Becky Turner, the new headteacher at Kensington Junior Academy, is inviting the community to an open day on December 8th.
The school, on St John’s Road, has approximately 200 pupils aged 7 to 11-years-old.
Becky said: “I am delighted to be at Kensington Junior Academy, which has a long history and well-established ties to the local community.
“I look forward to meeting more families at the open day and welcoming the next cohort of children. Our focus is to ensure that our pupils have the best possible opportunities to thrive and succeed.”
Becky has 26 years’ experience of working in education, which have mostly been based in central Nottingham. Her previous roles include being an assistant headteacher for 12 years.
During the last five years, her remit has also included working across a multi-academy trust and supporting curriculum development.
She has been in post at Kensington since September 2022.
Liz Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, Djanogly Learning Trust, added: “I am very pleased to welcome Becky to our Trust and the Ilkeston community. It is great to see her settling in.”
She added: “We aim to provide all children, regardless of their background, with an excellent education that helps them to succeed at school and in life.”
Kensington Junior Academy’s open day for families applying for Year 3 places is on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, from 2.30pm until 5.15pm.
