Betty Stone, a resident at Haddon House Care Home in Ilkeston celebrated her 101st birthday on 11th November.

Betty was born in Ironville, Derbyshire and has lived at Haddon House for 18 months. She loves singing, so the Magic Moments team at the care home arranged a musical birthday party where she enjoyed singing along to wartime classics while shaking pom-poms and tapping her feet.

The Mayor of Erewash, Councillor John Sewell, and the Mayoress, Rose Sewell also attended the party and presented Betty with a card and flowers which promoted a few happy tears from Betty!

Betty “Thanks God every day that I’m here” and says her secret to living such a long life is enjoying her favourite tipple of an Espresso Martini every now and then!
