Chippy to close
Johnny’s Fish Bar on Nottingham Road, Ilkeston is to close at the end of this month.
John and Flora Christofi have run the popular chippy for 36 years but have decided to retire.
Daughter Christina, who also works there along with other family members Demetrios, Sophia and Yiannis, says: “Mum and Dad have been thinking of retiring for a while now. They are both in their seventies and have finally made the decision to call it a day.
“They have enjoyed their long stint and would like to thank all their loyal customers. We have seen some of them grow from children to parents and even grandparents. It has been a pleasure to serve them their fish and chips and kebabs.”
The friers will be on for the last time on Saturday 29th October.
