Ilkeston’s beacon is lit. Some three thousand in towns and cities across the country have been lit for the Queen’s Jubilee. A big crowd gathered on the Market Place and enjoyed songs by Johnny Victory and Ilkeston Methodist Church choir. The evening ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
