Vyshyvanka Day was celebrated at the Church of Christ meeting in Adam Street, Ilkeston on 18 May. One of the most important days in the Ukrainian year, Vyshyvanka refers to the beautifully embroidered shirts traditionally made and worn for all their special occasions. Three families recently arrived in the UK made a whole variety of special foods which was shared with visitors from several churches and friends in the area.
The church is hoping that those from the Ukraininian community will use their chapel for meetings, English lessons or other community events. Contact Trevor (0115) 8376895 for more information.
