Dates for garden waste

Residents are being reminded that the free of charge garden waste collections will resume in February.

The collections are suspended for the winter months when brown bins can be used for dry mixed recycling.

In Ilkeston areas, the last dry missed recycling collection from brown bins will be during the week beginning 7 February. After this, recycling can only be presented in blue bins, brown bins with a blue lid and/or in green bags – ahead of garden waste collections restarting during the week beginning Monday 21 February.

In the Long Eaton areas, garden waste collections will restart the week beginning Monday 28 February, meaning the last recycling collection from brown bins will be during the week commencing 14 February.

Lead Member for Environment at Erewash Borough Council, Councillor Garry Hickton, says:

“I am sure that many residents will be pleased to hear that it’s almost time for the council’s popular free of charge garden waste collections to start again for the year. People should put their brown bins out on the same day as their blue bins or green bags. Information on what can be put in brown bins can be found on the council’s website.”
