Chaucer and Granby children visit war graves in Park Cemetery to remember those who lost their lives as a result of war. Granby pupils remembered especially ‘Mr Tingle’, a teacher at their school.

As a Governor of both Chaucer Junior School & Granby Junior School, it was a privilege to join pupils from both schools along with the Deputy Mayor of Erewash Borough Council Cllr John Sewell and members of The Royal British Legion – Ilkeston Branch at the annual remembrance service in park cemetery, where children placed crosses for every Commonwealth Casualty who lie buried there.

The pupils of Granby also placed a wreath on the grave of their former Assistant Master, Herbert Tingle, who died as a result of his wartime service. The wreath is made up of the colours of Mr Tingles regiment the Sherwood Foresters
