West Hallam Well Dressing

Not such a big event this year but the Wells have never-the-less been dressed and people will able to view them from this afternoon. For those not aware of this unique Derbyshire event the wells are very labour intensive and the decoration is compiled in clay, thus normally only last for a week depending on weather but lovely to observe and see.

The Well below is the Stanley Village Well ‘puddled’ next door to me and compiled by a large group of ladies and gentlemen from the Village and surrounds. This year the theme is ‘In Memory of Mrs Kate Salt’, an avid crafts lady who was treasurer of the Village Hall and very much a leader of the team of Well Dressers for Stanley Village.
RIP Kate. I feel this is a lovely tribute to her memory by the team in Stanley Village, Well done all.
