We featured schoolboy Joey Greener last year singing and playing his guitar on his drive to entertain neighbours and passers-by.
Now, a year later, the 15-year-old St John Houghton CVA student has gone on to release his own music and has been rated among the top artists in the East Midlands after being featured on Dean Jackson’s ‘The Beat’ radio programme.
And to emphasise his rise to fame, he will be appearing at the Y Not? Festival at Pikehall, Derbyshire from 30th July to 1st August.
Big names at the festival this year include the Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers and Nottingham’s Jake Bugg.
As well as covering songs by other performers, Jake writes his own material, some of which has been featured on ‘BBC Introducing’ making him one of the most played artists across the East Midlands.
Joey says it has been his music that has got him through the pandemic and the lockdown. “I’ve relied on music massively. Just listening to music is so chilling and makes me feel so much better.”
