Nene’s Kitchen.
A weekend sideline has developed into a thriving business for Shanine Chelsie Palmer. And now, with the lifting of Covid restrictions, Nene’s Kitchen is open to eat-in customers.
Shanine told us: “I’ve been catering for six years now. During the pandemic I was furloughed from my full-time job. This put me in a very dark place, mentally, as I’ve always worked and been a busybody.
“My family and friends suggested I started making and delivering afternoon teas, so I decided to give it a try. And wow, It took off! We started Father’s Day 2020 delivering 60 afternoon tea boxes in and around Ilkeston. Halloween got a little more hectic as word got out and we delivered over 100 spooky boxes to children in Ilkeston.
“We were truly overwhelmed by the support we were getting from our customers and at Christmas we were working through the night with six helpers delivering over 150 boxes again in and around Ilkeston!
“New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day followed with equal success and now our lovely customers are able to visit us and eat in at Nene’s Kitchen, Awsworth Road, Ilkeston.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming them to our place and there will be a little surprise waiting for them to thank them for their support and loyalty.”
