Chris Hallam has sadly died after a battle with cancer, aged 57.
The former Gladstone School pupil soon developed an interest in music and disc jockeying and became a promising DJ at Cantelupe Youth Club.
He progressed to doing mobile discos and featured in pubs in the local area including Kristies night club at the Rutland Arms, Bath Street, where he really made his name. He became general manger of Kristies in 1995.
Chris’s first job was at Rutland Garments on Market Street. He obtained qualifications in plumbing and brickwork at South East Derbyshire College but music was his overriding passion. He enjoyed visits to places like Rock City to see his favourite artists.
He was a big fan of Gary Numan and liked to dress in flamboyant bright colours. Doing things differently was his lifestyle. ‘Doing alternative weddings’ at places like Long Eaton Speedway stadium brought him much pleasure.
Chris had a son Jack from his first marriage and also two daughters Morgan and Connie.
