Outdoor fun will soon become more exciting thanks to a funding boost for a popular play area.
Erewash Borough Council has been successful with a funding bid of £70,000 from the FCC Communities Foundation which will enable the exciting refurbishment of the Larklands Play Area in Heathfield Avenue, Ilkeston.
The impressive project will see a range of fun new play equipment installed, as well as safety surfacing and fencing. The play area will be fully accessible and will cater for a wide age range. It is hoped that work will commence in the summer, with completion late summer/early autumn 2021.
Leader of Erewash Borough Council. Councillor Carol Hart, says:
“This project will help to provide a real boost to the people of Erewash – the new play area will make a huge difference to all those who regularly use the facilities and I hope it will encourage more people to do so. It’s fantastic that the FCC Communities Foundation has awarded this money and I believe it will benefit many families for years to come.”
The bid for funding was supported by Ilkeston Parents for Play and Kensington Junior Academy in Ilkeston. Erewash Borough Council will also be contributing to the project.
