Well known Ilkeston activist Des Ball has died.
He had hundreds of followers of social media.
He was best known for his campaigns to set up a shelter for the homeless in Ilkeston and to stop the loss of beds at Ilkeston Community Hospital.
Sometimes controversial in his crusades, he was nevertheless seen as a champion for the under-privileged and those without a voice.
There are hundreds of tributes on Facebook today.
