Oliver House Nursing Home residents Kath and Rob Eaton shared a special Saint Valentine’s Day celebration on 14th February.
Staff at the home arranged flowers and a romantic dinner for them.
The couple married on Kath’s 21st birthday 62 years ago, and apart from a time when Rob was hospitalised, they have always been together.
Rob asked senior carer Paula Sheldon to get cards for them to exchange and flowers for Kath.
On the day he was making use of a bottle of aftershave he had won at Bingo. He said at the time, “Oh, I’d better put some of this on for our special date”, thinking ahead to their Valentine’s Day treat.
The couple have a son John and a granddaughter Gemma. They used to like coach holidays and mystery tours and one of their favourite places to visit was Chatsworth House and gardens.
That’s not possible now but staff at Oliver House do their best to help them enjoy happy moments like the Valentine’s dinner.
